Why You MUST
Learn To Kill...
Right From The Get Go
The idea that right off the bat you’re taught lethal techniques on how to kill another human being is somewhat controversial in the world of self-defense, self-protection, martial arts and combat sports. Yet it really shouldn’t be. It absolutely should be at the forefront of any sort of training when you’re using physical force against a human body.
Target-Focus Training is a complete system. Anyone can show you how to apply force to the human body, how to punch, kick or how to use tools such as knives, clubs, firearms against human beings. What they don't show you is the result of those types of traumas are upon another human being.
And that works against you in a number of different ways. If you only had half the equation, if we just showed you a technique and said kick here, punch here, break here, gouge here, that would be something where you’d be able to do the physical movement.
But if you didn’t know the resulting trauma of kicking, punching, gouging or breaking in those particular areas, if you didn’t know what to expect, if you didn’t know what the physiological reaction was going to be then you have no way to judge how successful you are in that situation. Is this starting to shut down the central nervous system of the human body? Am I in control of this other guy at this point?
Also, how close am I getting this person to the point where they are no longer a threat to me? Are these injuries that I’m putting on this person enough? Do I know enough about the resulting trauma that I’m putting on this person to know that I can safely turn my back and either get help or deal with the next person, the next attacker?
Without that information in a violent situation, it’s always going to remain chaotic. So, it’s absolutely essential that you understand that when you put physical force on a human body… these are the results and you have to understand that anytime you put physical force on the human body, the results may end up lethal regardless of your intentions.
What do I mean by that? Say you hit somebody to the solar plexus. The solar plexus basically causes a physiological reaction that freezes and seizes the lungs and makes it very difficult for somebody to breathe. You might be under the assumption that you can punch somebody to the solar plexus and get away with it...teach them a lesson.
But if you don’t understand the fact that every time that you put your hands on somebody, that every time you use physical force on somebody, you can cause unintended consequences. You might be surprised to learn that the punch you just landed was on somebody with a genetically bad heart and could cause an arrhythmia that causes that person to literally drop dead in an instant.
Even more simply, you could punch somebody in the solar plexus, they could trip over themselves, fall back and hit their head on the concrete and kill themselves that way. You have to be very grounded in the realities of using physical force against another human being. You have to be prepared and you have to understand when it’s the appropriate time to do that... and when its not.
Conversely, if you don’t understand what trauma does to the human body, a lot of times you could end up being in serious trouble for unintended consequences. There are numerous cases of this, one of which was very famous recently in the state of Massachusetts... called the hockey dad incident.
Basically a hockey coach was doing dangerous drills on the ice with his hockey team. One of the dads watching this drill was very upset. He had a verbal argument with the coach. The coach was very abusive and both fathers eventually got out on the ice and fought in front of all the kids. The dad was much bigger than the coach, and he was so enraged that he ended up repeatedly shaking the man on the ice. Each time he shook the coach, the back of his head was hitting repeatedly on the ice at that point. The resulting trauma was causing serious damage to mans central nervous system.
Now, there’s no doubt that this man had no intention of killing the coach when this happened but because he had no idea what he was doing and he had no idea of the types of trauma that this guy was suffering, he ended up killing the man. Now he’s doing 11 years for manslaughter because of his ignorance. That’s the other side.
So, when we say in Target-Focus Training that it’s absolutely essential that you understand lethal application. Yes, you need to understand how to kill another human being. It’s not because we think that that is in and of itself great and useful information or that we’re trying to be macho or sensational with it. We’re actually telling you this because its absolutely essential you understand the seriousness of putting physical force on another human being.
