I've been touring Asia giving TFT seminars throughout the region and wanted to share some thoughts regarding asocial violence.

So far I've been to Singapore, Jakarta, Manila, Shanghai and I'm writing this newsletter from the Beijing Airport on my way to Hong Kong.

Every step of this journey, the specter of violence looms in the background. Most of my hotels have a barricade, all cars searched for car bombs, each guest searched every time they re-enter the hotel. My hosts represent some of the most influential people in each of these regions and all have been very receptive to my message of learning to use violence as a survival tool.

Why?

Because these people -- living in these cities -- have a lot to lose, and most face the threat of violence entering their lives in a real and dramatic fashion.

And they don't just face the threat of criminal violence. Political violence, terrorism, kidnappers, business rivals -- all use violence as a means to solve problems.

The region has many challenges. Some of the cities in this area are very safe but most people have to travel throughout the region and as a whole they are attractive targets for those who would use violence to solve social problems.

Having a plan for asocial violence is a commitment these clients take quite seriously. Not because they ever want to have to use the knowledge but when you see rival candidates for mayor kill off each other and their family members you realize there are those out there in prominent positions who are very comfortable solving any conflict with violence.

It quickly becomes clear that if you are unfortunate enough to get involved with people like this, you may very well find yourself in a situation where using violence is your only answer. I share this because rarely have I found my message so well received -- ironically in a part of the world that was the birthplace of martial arts.

Having an information-based fighting system that you can readily access in a time of violence is invaluable. My short time here has shown me that when violence is present beyond just the criminal element that sad fact becomes even more apparent.

The one shining take away from this experience is, again, a validation of TFT as the universal response to physical violence of any nature -- not just criminal.
